Regulars at the Grofield public house in Abergavenny raised a fantastic £500 to help people affected by kidney failure with a charity BBQ recently.

It brings the total sum of money raised for Kidney Wales by supporters at the popular pub to more than £1,000. And they are already organising their next fundraising event for the charity a sponsored 20 mile walk around the seven peaks of Abergavenny!

Around 100 people donated money at the BBQ on May 22 with the British Lions rugby jersey on offer in the charity raffle proving a big draw. Rob Forman of the Joker Roadshow Disco did his bit by providing free music throughout the evening.

Landlord Andy Powell said: “Everyone really pulled together to make the night a huge success. We’re delighted the money will be used by Kidney Wales to help people and families affected by renal problems.”

Now everyone at the pub is looking forward to supporting the seven peaks sponsored walk, which will take place on July 4. The walk will include fundraisers Phil Hemmings, Martin Palmer, Gary Bell. Alan Wright, Anthony Coggin. Simon Fisher, John Tag, Geriant Williams, John Williams, Meirion Williams and Jane Bell, and will be followed by a BBQ that same day at the Grofield pub.
