Over the weekend of the 27th and 28th of March, thousands of people across Wales took part in the Specsavers Walk for Life. From Amwlch to Ammanford entire communities took to the streets, hills and parks of Wales to support Kidney patients and their families.

We were even fortunate enough to have a break in the weather and the sun came out to make the day extra special for the thousands of people taking part across the country.

In 2009 the Walk for Life raised a fantastic £90,000. In 2010, with more walks and fundraising events than ever before, we are hoping to raise over £100,000. This will ensure that we can make a significant difference by supporting Kidney patient care and well-being.

Kidney failure and disease affects young and old alike and with your support, we can make a difference to the lives of Kidney patients like Theo Williams. Baby Theo is a twin who was born with one non-functioning kidney and one semi-functioning kidney. As he is too young to be added to the transplant waiting list, he currently receives medication. At the age of 3 or when he has gained enough weight, he will be added to the waiting list. In the meantime, it is hoped that he will be able to stay on medication for as long as possible rather than having to go on dialysis.
