The Cardiff Walk for Life was bigger and better than ever this year with nearly 300 people taking part. This year’s walk had a special ‘singalong’ theme and we were joined by three local choirs – Cordydd, Aelwyd y Waun Ddyfal and Cor y Mochyn Du. Bute Park was truly alive with the sound of music as the choirs belted out classics such as Delilah and Calon Lan and even the National Anthem!

It felt as though winter was well and truly over, with Bute Park coming to life with colour as people donned their eye-catching Walk for Life t shirts.

The Walk was led by former First Minister Rhodri Morgan AM with support from politicians from all parties. Celebrities got in on the act too with Walk For Life patrons Sarra Elgan and Alex Jones starting the walk off with Councillor Brian Griffiths-The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of Cardiff.

14 year old, Taylor Akrill from Caerphilly took on the hard work of wearing Cwtch the Donate Wales mascot. He showed his support for Kidney Wales and his brother Lewis, who received a life-saving Kidney transplant form his mum Tracy, six years ago. Walking nearly two miles as a giant pink speech bubble is no mean feat!

The Walk finished in the undercroft of Cardiff Castle, with children hunting around the castle and the grounds for Easter Eggs – many of them with painted faces. The odd adult could be seen hunting for eggs too.
