Kidney Wales today congratulated Katherine Jenkins as Patron of Kidney Wales today as she collected her OBE today from the Prince of Wales. The Neath-born star was awarded the OBE for her services to music and charity work. The Charity stated that it was proud Katherine’s work had been recognised and that she has truly made a difference over 10 years in her charitable work.

Roy J Thomas of Kidney Wales Foundation said “When Katherine was starting in the music industry 10 years ago in 2004 she already demonstrated a human touch and a great caring attitude. We admired her hard work and enthusiasm.  She met a young girl in 2004 Zowiann Flood who was a kidney patient at the University of Wales Hospital Cardiff aged 9 years. Her kindness that day to Zowiann was for all to see and she has gone on to create a remarkable impression and career around the World. Katherine has shown kindness since then to other sick children waiting for a transplant and during the 10 years has been a frequent visitor to the Children’s Centre.”
