Wales reaches COVID vaccine milestone
Wales is the first country in the UK to offer the COVID vaccine to all JCVI (Joint Committee on Vaccine and Immunisation) priority groups 1-4, which includes people who are shielding.
Welsh Government recently tweeted
“Over three-quarter of a million of our most vulnerable people in Wales have now received their first life-saving dose of the coronavirus vaccine. This has been a massive effort involving so many people across the country. By working together, we can ensure a brighter future.”
If you are shielding and have not yet been offered the vaccine please get in touch with your local Health Board. All the details are here: https://gov.wales/get-your-covid-19-vaccination-if-you-think-you-have-been-missed If you know a person, a friend or relative for example, who you think is yet to be contacted and should have been, please check with them.
People in the next five priority groups, which includes those with an underlying health condition such as chronic kidney disease, are beginning to be booked in for their appointments.
Wales aims to vaccinate all JCVI groups 1-9 by spring and the whole adult population by the autumn.
