Kidney Wales welcomes Ross Evans as new Managing Director.

Kidney Wales is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Managing Director to further our work in making a difference to the lives of kidney patients and families across Wales.

We’re very excited to welcome our new Managing Director, Ross Evans, to the team. Ross, previously Head of Stroke Support at the Stroke Association, joined us at the start of May 2021 in a part time role, as successor to Judith Stone, who held the role during 2020.

Judith was previously a trustee of Kidney Wales and took on the role of Managing Director as an 18-month secondment from her substantive role in the senior management team of Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA), the national membership body for charities in Wales.

Having joined the team in January 2020, the emergency of the pandemic forced a sudden change of direction, Judith Said: “Plans were suddenly shelved and our focus switched immediately to providing timely information, expert guidance, practical assistance and a network of support within our Welsh kidney community.  Our small team really pulled together during this challenging year, to deliver key outcomes for kidney patients and families.”

Judith reflected “2020 was a year that none of us expected or could have planned for, but I am immensely proud to have worked closely with the Kidney Wales team, colleagues from other kidney charities, NHS staff and other partners to deliver initiatives that have really made a difference to the lives of kidney patients and families during the pandemic.  I remain committed to supporting Kidney Wales and the Welsh kidney community and look forward to continuing to do so in a voluntary capacity.”

Bring with him a wealth of knowledge and experience of working in health charities, and a passion for well-being, patient choice and voice, we feel confident Ross is a great fit for the charity and this role.

Ross said: “It is a real privilege to take on this role and join the Kidney Wales team at this time.  The organisation and the team have risen to the challenges that they have been faced with from the pandemic, and I will work hard to ensure we continue to deliver key outcomes for kidney patients and families across Wales.   

I have worked across the third sector for a number of years, and I am really excited to use the skills and experiences I have gained to further support the kidney community.  I am motivated and passionate about the delivery of genuine person-centred services that make a true difference to the lives of those that access them.”
