Coronavirus Testing and Treatments
From January 2022 in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the general advice is that people who test positive on a lateral flow device (LFD) should assume they have Covid-19 and self-isolate immediately. They will not be required to take a PCR test to confirm that they have Covid-19. This temporary measure is to ensure that those who need PCR tests can access them while Covid-19 rates are high.
You should take lateral flow tests if you do not have COVID-19 symptoms. People with symptoms of Covid-19, including headache, sore throat, high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss or change in their sense of taste or smell, should continue to get a PCR test and self-isolate while waiting for their test result as usual.
