Inspiring Volunteer Ambassador Chloe Honoured with Outstanding Bravery Award

We are incredibly proud to share that Chloe, one of our dedicated Volunteer Ambassadors at Kidney Wales, has been awarded the Outstanding Bravery Award at the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot Citizens Awards 2025.

Chloe, a young adult from Briton Ferry, has faced unimaginable health challenges over the past few years. Diagnosed with a life-changing autoimmune condition—vasculitis— which has led to her low kidney function, Chloe has endured countless tests, hospital admissions, immunotherapy treatments and time in intensive care. Despite the physical and emotional toll, she continues to face each day with remarkable courage and positivity.

Alongside managing her condition, Chloe remains passionately committed to making a difference. She has become a powerful voice for others living with chronic illness and an active fundraiser and awareness champion for Kidney Wales. Her role as a Volunteer Ambassador sees her regularly speak out to educate and empower others, all while navigating her own personal health journey.

This year, Chloe will be taking on the Cardiff 10K with the goal of raising £2,000 for Kidney Wales—another testament to her unwavering determination and selflessness. Over the past 18 months, she has already raised an incredible £5,000 for a UK-based charity supporting education and development in Uganda—a country close to her heart through family ties to her hometown of Briton Ferry.

Chloe’s story is one of extraordinary resilience. As she described in a recent post shared on our social media channels:

“Being diagnosed with a chronic illness at a young age feels isolating and overwhelming. It challenges my sense of normalcy yet fosters resilience and a deeper understanding of health and empathy.”

Despite facing some of her darkest days—losing her hair, her confidence, and at times, what felt like everything—Chloe has never stopped showing up for others. She’s an unwavering source of support to her community and a beacon of hope for many.

We are honoured to work alongside Chloe and are inspired every day by her bravery, compassion and tireless dedication to others. This award is a truly fitting recognition of a remarkable young woman who continues to make an incredible impact.
