Celebrating the Gift of Life through Sport

The Welsh Transplant Team is a proud and passionate group of transplant recipients, live donors, and supporters who come together each year to take part in the British Transplant Games – a national event that celebrates the power of organ donation and the resilience of those whose lives have been transformed by transplantation.
Our team brings together people of all ages from across Wales. Whether they’ve received a heart, kidney, pancreas, liver, lung, or bone marrow transplant – or donated an organ to a loved one – every member shares the same goal: to honour donors and their families, and to raise awareness of the life-changing impact of organ donation.
The Welsh Transplant Team has a proud history of sporting and personal achievements at the Games. Over the years, our athletes have returned home with numerous medals across a wide range of events – from track and field to swimming, cycling, and more. Several of our members have even gone on to represent Great Britain at the World Transplant Games, competing on the global stage and showcasing the strength, determination, and spirit of the Welsh transplant community.
But for us, the Games are about far more than competition. They are about community, recovery, and gratitude. Each member of our team is an ambassador for organ donation and a living testament to the generosity of donors and their families.
Beyond the Games, we’re committed to promoting physical activity and wellbeing all year round. We are developing a programme of multi-sports taster days across Wales – welcoming transplant recipients and live donors to try different activities in a relaxed and supportive environment. We believe sport and exercise can play a powerful role in recovery, confidence-building, and lifelong health after transplant – and we’re here to support each other every step of the way.

British Transplant Games 2026 Registration
Registration for the 2026 British Transplant Games, which are taking place in Sheffield from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th August, is officially open. There’s still plenty of time to register.
The British Transplant Games are so much more than just sport, they’re a celebration of life, resilience, and the incredible transplant community we’re all part of.
As in previous years, there are two steps to complete your registration:
• Complete the Team Wales Registration Form (this contains important information and updates, and also helps us coordinate the team, organise logistics, plan activities and make sure everyone feels part of something really special across the weekend)
• Complete the British Transplant Games Registration Form (this is required by the organisers of the British Transplant Games, and covers things like which sports you would like to compete in and your medical waiver)
If you’re planning to attend, please try to complete both registration forms as soon as you can. If you’re unsure or have any questions, please feel free to reach out using the email address below.
