Best thing you’ll do today: Confirm your organ donation choice

Around 8,000 people in the UK, including over 200 children, are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant.
Sadly, many will not receive the transplant they need in time.
Even though Wales was the first country in the UK to bring in a presumed consent system, family support for donation remains essential. The number of families in Wales supporting a loved one’s decision to be an organ donor has dropped by 21% in the last five years, making it more important than ever for people to confirm their decision and discuss it with loved ones.
Since the creation of the NHS Organ Donor Register in 1994, more than 100,000 people in the UK have had their lives saved by an organ transplant, including over 10,000 in Wales. Over 1.3 million people in Wales have now declared their willingness to donate, but with consent rates declining, more needs to be done to ensure life-saving transplants can go ahead.
We ask you to take action today, and share these messages with your friends, family, work colleagues and beyond.
Signing up to the NHS Organ Donor Register is one of the most meaningful commitments you can make – and it may just be the Best thing you’ll do today.
