Celebrating Three Years of Volunteering Impact
Over the past three years, our volunteer programme has continued to grow, helping us reach more people across Wales with important information about kidney health and kidney disease.
We’re delighted to share our three-year Volunteer Impact Report, highlighting the difference our volunteers have made and the communities they have helped us connect with.
Reaching more people with kidney health information
Over the past year, our volunteers have helped us reach 1,924 individuals with information and awareness about kidney health and kidney disease – a 215% increase compared with the previous year.
Through community engagement, awareness activities and talks, our volunteers have helped people better understand their kidney health and the importance of knowing more about kidney disease.
Listening to our community
We have also continued to provide opportunities for people to access information on topics that matter to them. Over the past year, we delivered four information webinars based on areas our audience told us they wanted to learn more about:
- Supporting someone with CKD
- Why do people say ‘no’ to a kidney transplant?
- The journey of a living donor
- Emotional support and wellbeing
These sessions have brought together expert knowledge and lived experience, helping people feel more informed and supported.
Volunteering that fits around you
We know that volunteering can look different for everyone. Alongside regular volunteering opportunities, we have been able to offer one-off and ad hoc opportunities for people who want to get involved when they can.
Whether supporting an event, helping with an awareness activity or sharing personal experience, every contribution helps us reach more people and raise awareness of kidney health.
Looking ahead
This report takes you briefly through what we have achieved through our volunteer programme over the past three years, with a focus on the last year in particular, how and where we recognise our volunteers, and the difference their involvement has made.
It also provides an insight into our recently launched school awareness talks and how we are continuing to work with communities across Wales to improve understanding of kidney health and kidney disease.
