COVID-19 testing, treatments and the spring booster

Spring 2022 is here, and we are starting to see signs of the new normal with COVID restrictions easing further. Information relating to the next stage of boosters is being released across the UK and we are here to provide a summary on the new guidelines for testing, treatments, and the vaccination programme. Including the spring booster.

The Kidney Charities Together group have created a COVID-19 vaccination guide for kidney patients. The frequency of updated information can be difficult to follow. The aim of this brief document is to offer a guide that summarises if you are eligible, what vaccination dose or booster you are likely due and the timeframes in which the vaccinations should take place.

Vaccinations and Boosters

In March the new phases of the vaccination programme began. The announcement stated that the over-75s, older care home residents and immunosuppressed individuals aged 12 years and over will be invited for the spring booster.

Being fully vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself from serious illness, hospitalisation, or death if you contract COVID-19. All eligible groups can access the spring booster now if it is at least 3 months since your last dose, although the gap will be closer to 6 months for some.
