Kidney Wales celebrates receiving a ‘People and Places’ grant from the National Lottery to continue supporting our kidney community in Wales.
Kidney Wales is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded £150,009.00 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive. During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
This grant awarded to Kidney Wales will provide funding over a 4-year period, allowing us to recruit a Volunteering & Community Engagement Officer to support the organisation in a number of areas. They will deliver four information days per year, with a variety of speakers providing key guidance for patients living with all stages of chronic kidney disease [CKD].

They will also further develop the incredible work that has already begun with our Kidney Wales ambassador programme. Recruiting, training & managing those touched by kidney disease who wish to become a volunteer ambassador by sharing their personal story. Alongside this, they will oversee an outreach programme to schools, businesses, voluntary organisations, health services and community groups providing talks delivered by ambassadors that reflect issues faced by the kidney community as well as the importance of kidney health for everyone.
