O Come All Ye Faithful!

Around 25 members of Aelwyd y Waun Ddyfal, a young choir based in Cathays, were entertaining the residents of Pontcanna on Tuesday night, December 8th. It was a night of going from door to door trying to raise money by carol singing. The choir successfully raised £200 to a good cause.

The charity in question was Kidney Foundation Wales; a charity that supports patients in Wales which have to depend on dialysis to live from day to day. Aelwyd y Waun Ddyfal decided to support this charity after being invited to sing in the foundation’s annual Christmas concert at the beginning of December in St John’s Church, Cardiff.
Aelwyd y Waun Ddyfal is a young choir with over 100 members who meet weekly to sing and socialise. Over the years, the choir has been very successful in various Eisteddfodau and competitions and is more than happy to take part in different concerts.

The carols night was very successful in terms of the money raised and also in terms of promoting the charity’s profile. The mulled wine and mince pies in the Mochyn Du at the end of the night was a perfect finish to a great evening! Best of luck to Kidney Wales Foundation in the future.
