Over £28,000 raised for lead charity partner Kidney Wales at the revival of historic CDF 10K
Thousands of runners and spectators turned out in the glorious sunshine for the return of the CDF 10K, which took place in the Welsh capital for the first time since 2019 on Sunday.
Under new management Run 4 Wales, over 5,000 signed up to take part in the race, which took participants on a sightseeing tour of the Welsh capital with highlights including Cardiff Castle, Central Square, the Principality Stadium and leafy suburb of Pontcanna.
Consultant Transplant Surgeon and Trustee of Kidney Wales Mike Stephens officially started the 2K and 10K races and said:
This event has always been a favourite of mine, not only personally but for the awareness it raises for Kidney Wales and our kidney community. We were all so excited to see it back this year, and the day didn’t disappoint. It couldn’t have gone any better. Witnessing the thousands of participants crossing the start line, and the sea of Kidney Wales vests was an experience I will always remember.
Over 150 runners took on this 10K challenge in support of lead charity partner Kidney Wales, collectively raising over £28,000 with donations still coming in.
Race day for our #TeamKW runners included a team photo, an exclusive top 20 fundraisers walk on prior to the race starting, drinks and snacks donated by Tesco and Asda and a sports massage from Ben at Abloc Physiotherapy post race.

It was an emotional experience to see so many people in Kidney Wales vests on the day. We can’t thank them enough; we rely on the generosity of supporters at events like this to continue our life changing work for our Kidney Community across Wales. We are already super excited for next years event. Having entered into a 5 year agreement with management company Run 4 Wales, our collaboration will only grow stronger, and will allow us to build upon the success of Sunday and further develop the way in which we celebrate the success of our incredible fundraisers at this iconic event.
