Saturday 6 June was a day to remember as Team Kidney Wales took part in the UK Charity All Stars Cymru Tournament 2026, winning the trophy and raising an incredible £25,134.85 to support kidney patients across Wales.

The exciting ice hockey tournament brought together four charity teams Kidney Wales, Ty Hafan, The Barbarians and Wales Hospice for a day full of competition, teamwork and fundraising.

The atmosphere at the rink was electric, with supporters, players and families coming together to create a truly special and memorable day for everyone involved.

Team Kidney Wales was led by captain Gareth Shaw, who brought the team together and played a huge part in making the event such a success. Gareth was inspired to organise the team and take part in the tournament in memory of his wife Miffy Shaw, making the day even more meaningful.

The team was also joined by some very special guests, including Devils legends Stephen Cooper, Neil Francis and Phil Hill, as well as Cardiff Devils Managing Director Todd Kelman, who all laced up their skates in support of Kidney Wales.

Adding to the incredible team effort was Kidney Wales CEO Ross Evans, who took on the challenge of learning to skate and play ice hockey over just eight weeks so he could join the team for the tournament. His dedication and determination to step onto the ice in support of kidney patients across Wales perfectly captured the spirit of the day.

After an action-packed day on the ice, Team Kidney Wales secured the win, but the real victory was the incredible support shown by everyone involved.

The funds raised will help Kidney Wales continue providing vital support, advice and services for people living with kidney disease across Wales, while also helping to fund research and awareness work.

A huge thank you goes to every member of Team Kidney Wales for their dedication, commitment and outstanding fundraising efforts. We’d also like to thank everyone who donated, bought raffle tickets, placed bids in the auction, attended on the day, or helped spread the word.

We are incredibly grateful to the organisers of the UK Charity All Stars Cymru Tournament for bringing everyone together for such a fantastic event, and to the teams from Ty Hafan, The Barbarians and Wales Hospice for making the day one to remember.

Every single contribution made a difference, and together we have shown the power of sport, teamwork and community in supporting kidney patients across Wales.

Thank you for being part of something truly special. 💙
