Fundraisers in Tredegar have helped reach a landmark figure for the Kidney Wales Foundation the 50th confirmed walk for this year’s Specsavers Walk for Life on March 29.

And with another six walks set to be confirmed shortly, it looks like being a record-breaking year for Kidney Wales thanks to the generosity of supporters and members of the public.

The Tredegar Specsavers Walk for Life is being organised by longstanding Kidney Wales supporters Tredegar Town Council who have helped raise thousands of pounds over the years to support the charity’s work.

The Walk is also being supported by the Glan Yr Afon Surgery in Tredegar, which cares for many patients with kidney problems. They will be displaying posters in the surgery

Head of Practice Dr. Krishan Syal said: We are supporting the Tredegar Walk for Life because there are lots of people affected by kidney problems, many that we care for at the Glan Yr Afon Surgery. This event is important as it gives the community a chance to make a real difference to patients lives by supporting Kidney Wales.

Money raised by the Specsavers Walk for Life will be used by Kidney Wales to fund a number of projects specifically aimed at helping children affected by kidney failure and disease in Wales.

This year’s Tredegar Specsavers Walk for Life takes place at 11am on March 29 from Bedwellty House. All participants receive a commemorative certificate for taking part. For more information contact either Councillor Andrea Williams on 01495 725596 or Dr. John Evans on 01495 725596.
