Kidney Wales Welcomes New Volunteer Officer thanks to the WCVA and Volunteering Wales Grant.

Our charity is pleased to say we have appointed a Volunteer Officer. At the beginning of the month Kidney Wales welcomed Bethany Williams-Potter into the new role.  We’re excited to use this role to continue to raise awareness and to further our work supporting families and changing lives.

This is an exciting time for Kidney Wales and we’re very thrilled to welcome Bethany to our small team. Bethany joins us on a part time basis, she has a passion for the third sector and is very keen to jump into the job ahead.

Bethany says “I am very excited to be taking on the brand-new role of Volunteer Co-ordinator at Kidney Wales. This is my first role since graduating from Cardiff University with a master’s in philosophy and I am so proud to be a part of an organisation which does so much for Kidney Patients across Wales.

I am a fluent Welsh speaker which I hope will help to reach even more people than before.

Volunteers are such an important part of any organisation, and I am passionate about providing the support and appreciation they deserve.

I can’t wait to get started!”

“Rwy’n hynod o gyffrous i ddechrau ar fy swydd newydd o Gydlynydd Gwirfoddolwyr ar gyfer Aren Cymru. Dyma fy swydd gyntaf ers i mi raddio o Brifysgol Caerdydd gyda gradd Meistr mewn athroniaeth ac rwyf mor falch i fod yn rhan o sefydliad sy’n ymdrechi’n ddiflino dros gleifion arenau ledled Cymru.

Rwyf yn siaradwr Cymraeg rhugl a gobeithiaf bydda hynny’n galluogi imi ymgysylltu gyda mwy o bobl nag erioed yn fy ngwaith.

Mae gwirfoddolwyr yn chwarae  rhan bwysig mewn unrhyw sefydliad elusennol, ac rwyf yn frwdfrydig o ddarparu’r gefnogaeth a’r gwerthfawrogiad mae ein gwirfoddolwyr yn haeddu.

Rwy’n edrych ymlaen at gael cychwyn ar fy ngwaith!”

With the awarded grant from the Volunteering Wales Grant, administered by WCVA, we have been able to bring Bethany on board to begin our plans to develop our volunteer opportunities and better engage with our kidney community.

The new programme is in line with Kidney Wales’ charitable mission to deliver education and awareness raising activity.  This funding will allow us to recruit, train and build the confidence of 30 people affected by CKD, to organise and deliver presentations in their local area to charities, businesses, schools and at Kidney Wales events, to educate and raise awareness of CKD by sharing their personal journey.

We are still recruiting for those who are keen to take on the role of a volunteer ambassador. We will be relying on you as our kidney community to help us bring this project to life.

If you are interested or would like to know more about our new volunteering role, you can read about it here.

We hope you will join us in warmly welcoming Bethany to the team.

If you have any questions please do get in touch and the team will be happy to help.
