Welsh Government Coronavirus Control Plan and Restriction Guidance

Recently the Welsh Government confirmed that some precautions will be staying in place even though we are seeing restrictions being lifting in England.

New Welsh guidelines were introduced on Sat 17th July. With the vaccination programme proving successful, our government want to build on this progress and have reviewed the current guidance for Wales. We are still being assured that the best practice to ensure continued improvement is:

  • face coverings remaining a legal requirement indoors, such as on public transport, shops and when accessing healthcare. The use of face coverings in the workplace should also be considered by businesses and employers as part of their coronavirus risk assessment.
  • only forming an extended household with 2 other households.
  • not meeting with anyone outside your extended household or more than five people from different households in your home.
  • not meeting with more than five people in settings, such as cafes, restaurants, and pubs.

We must ensure we are adhering to the above to protect each other and move forward. It is still important to remember that we want to respect each other and as such we should:

  • Social distancing and meeting in well ventilated environments encouraged. Observe social distancing with people you do not live with or who are not in your exclusive extended household
  • People should continue to work from home wherever possible.
  • minimise travel to risk areas
  • avoid international travel if possible
  • reasonable measures to be taken, such as physical distancing and other controls. These will be for each organisation to consider depending on the nature of the premises and the risks of exposure to coronavirus identified.

Restriction guidance has also been updated and from 17th July

  • up to 6 people can meet indoors in private homes and holiday accommodation
  • organised indoor events can happen, subject to conditions outlined on the https://gov.wales website
  • removal the legal restrictions on the number of people who can gather outdoors
  • allow children from organisations (such as the Brownies and Scouts) to meet over the summer holidays
