Ysgol Gyfun Glan Taf raised funds for the Children’s Kidney Centre in Cardiff by organising a Walk.
Roy J Thomas of Kidney Wales said “Ysgol Glantaf is one of the best schools in Wales and it is a reflection of the values of the school, that both pupils and staff have joined forces to raise funds for other children in need of support. We are currently purchasing a dialysis machine for the Children’s Unit in University of Wales Hospital – we refurbished the Centre and we continue to support first class renal care for the children through our Social Fund for South & West Wales.”
Shani Evans who is a pupil in year 8, who had collected over £200 said “Not only is it good for us to get out into the fresh air and walk for three hours, but we are also raising funds for children less fortunate than ourselves who are on dialysis which is demanding when it is three times a week. We are also aware that there are young patients of our own age requiring life- saving kidney transplants in South Wales.”
The fund raising event was organized by Ms Gaynor Jones, Head of Year 9 at Ysgol Glantaf who said ” The Girls take fundraising very seriously and their willingness to support such a worthy cause is to be commended. We hope to raise over £1,000. The school regularly supports a range of charities and we are pleased to be able to support Kidney Wales Foundation.”
